FLORIDA FINISHES 7TH IN LEARFIELD DIRECTORS’ CUP — The Gators ranked No. 7 nationally, marking the 41st consecutive year among the nation’s top 10 all-sports programs.

THIRD NCAA TEAM TITLE FOR MEN’S BASKETBALL — Florida joined an exclusive group with three NCAA Championships in men’s basketball (2006, 2007, 2025).

NINE FLORIDA TEAMS finished the 2024–25 season ranked in the national Top 10.

TWO CONFERENCE TITLES — SEC Championships in men’s golf and women’s lacrosse.

Florida’s third consecutive NCAA men’s outdoor track & field title led 11 top-five team finishes as the Gators athletics program placed fourth in the 2023-24 LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup standings.

In 2023-24, 11 Gators teams placed among the nation’s final top five – including a national-high nine among the top three. This is the 22nd consecutive complete season 10 or more Gators teams were among the nation’s top 10.

11 GATORS CLAIMED 15 NCAA INDIVIDUAL TITLES IN 2023-24

Gators claimed a national high 15 NCAA individual titles across five sports in the 2023-24 season.

Parker Valby’s 2023 NCAA title is the first for Florida women’s or men’s cross country. A Gator has now claimed at least one title in each possible sport that offers individual NCAA wins – cross country, golf, gymnastics, swimming & diving, tennis and track & field.

Parker Valby is the only woman in NCAA history to win five distance individual titles in a single academic year. Her 2023 NCAA title is the first for Florida women’s or men’s cross country. Valby doubled down in both NCAA Track & Field Championship meets. Just 24 hours after capturing the 5,000-meter title by a margin of almost 17 seconds in a collegiate record time of 14:52.79, Valby won the NCAA Indoor 3,000m in a meet record time of 8:41.50. At the NCAA Outdoor meet, she used a meet-record of 31:46.09 to win Florida’s first 10,000m title and then repeated as the 5,000m champion with a collegiate-record time of 14:52.18.

Grace Stark used a personal-best of 12.47 to win the 100-meter hurdles – UF’s first NCAA title in the event since 1992.

The quartet of Adam Chaney, Julian Smith, Josh Liendo and Macguire McDuff won UF’s third consecutive NCAA 200-yard free relay title. They also took the 200 medley relay with a NCAA, U.S. Open and meet record time of 1:20.15.

Bella Sims, Isabel Ivey, Emma Weyant and Micayla Cronk used a program and pool record time of 6:48.59 to win Florida’s sixth NCAA 800-freestyle relay title and first since 1989.

Josh Liendo is one of six in NCAA Men’s Swimming Championships history – and first since 1996 - to win three individual titles and swim on at least two championship relays in a single national meet. He is the first to sweep the NCAA 50 and 100 free plus 100 butterfly since Florida’s Caeleb Dressel in 2017 and 2018.

Leanne Wong won the sixth NCAA uneven bars title for the Gators since 2013. That total leads all programs in the last 11 championships.

Bella Sims reset her Florida record to 4:32.47 to win the Gators first 500 freestyle title in 16 seasons. She won the second individual title of her freshman season a day later, tying her UF 200 free record of 1:40.90. It was UF’s seventh title in the event and first since 2008.

SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE ACTION

Florida was third in 2023-24 USA Today Network Southeastern Conference All-Sports standings.

Tennessee took the top spot in the SEC overall and men’s all-sports standings. UT won three SEC titles (baseball, men’s basketball, softball) and was second in three other final standings. Texas A&M won its second women’s all-sports title and first since 2014-15.

SEC team titles by Florida is the league's all-time leader.

Gator lacrosse won their final American Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles as the team moves to the Big 12 next year. The tournament title was the lacrosse program’s 10th consecutive, as the team has been part of three difference conferences since its first season in 2010.

Seven Gators picked up nine conference athlete of the year honors in 2023-24. This is the 47th consecutive season at least one Gator claimed league athlete of the year accolades.

Becoming the first to win five NCAA individual distance titles in a single season – all in at least meet record times – earned Florida’s Parker Valby the Southeastern Conference Female Athlete of the Year. Those wins earned Valby the USTFCCCA 2023 cross country, 2024 Indoor and Outdoor National Athlete of the Year, while also becoming just the fifth to win both the cross country and track & field Honda Awards in a single academic year.

A Gator has now claimed a SEC Athlete of the Year honor a league-leading 16 times. UF’s seven male honors and nine for female SEC Athlete of the Year leads the league.

Florida is the only program to place 100 or more student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll each of the last 27 years.

The 2024 Summer Olympics Florida Athletics

Gators Perform Well in Paris

Gators combined to win 11 total Olympic medals, marking the ninth time Florida athletes earned 10 or more medals in a single Olympics.

Gators won eight medals in swimming and three in track & field. Florida shared seventh with Kentucky with 10 medals by TeamUSA athletes.

If the Gator Nation was a recognized country at the 2024 Olympic Games, it would have tied for 16th place in the total medal count, winning 11 medals (4 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze). Four golds stands No. 16 among the 84 nations that collected a 2024 Olympic medal.

The 41 Gators in Paris was the most ever in a single Olympic Games (39 competed in Beijing/2008 and 35 in Tokyo/2020). Those with Gator ties came from eight sports - Basketball (includes 3v3), Diving, Golf, Gymnastics, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis and Track & Field.

Florida was No. 4 among NCAA programs with 41 representatives and led the Southeastern Conference.

The eight medals claimed in the 2024 Olympics were earned by five Gators.

Caeleb Dressel's two Olympic gold medals in 2024 gives him nine for his career. He is one of seven in Olympic history with nine or more Olympic golds. Dressel is one of five U.S. athletes with nine or more golds.

One of the four world swimming records set in the 2024 Olympics was achieved by Bobby Finke. His time of 14:30.67 defended his 2020 gold in the 1500 freestyle. The previous record of 14:31.02 was set by China's Sun Yang at the 2012 London Games.

Bobby Finke was only U.S. man to win an individual swimming gold in 2024. He also won silver in the 800m free.

Kieran Smith delivered as a late addition to the U.S.'s 4x200 free relay team. Smith anchored with the second-fastest split overall of 1:44.80 as the U.S. won silver.

Rising junior Josh Liendo won silver in the 100 butterfly in 49.99. That time lowers his Canadian record and makes his one of just five swimmers in history to go under 50 seconds in the 100 fly.

There will be another 2024 Olympic medalist on Florida's swimming roster next season. Gator grad Emma Weyant won bronze in the 400 individual medley. She'll use her Covid season to compete again for the Gators in the 2024-25 campaign.

Track & Field

Grant Holloway added Olympic gold to his three world (2019 Doha, 2022 Eugene, 2023 Budapest) 110-meter hurdles titles. He won the U.S.'s 20th 110m hurdle Olympic title in 2024 and the first since the 2012 London Games.

Jasmine Moore came to the Paris Olympics as the first U.S. woman to qualify for both the long and triple jump. At the 2024 Games, Moore extended that distinction to became the first for the U.S. to medal in both, winning bronze in each event. Moore is the first U.S. woman to medal in the triple jump. She joins Russia's Tatyana Lebedeva (2004 gold in long; bronze in triple jump) as the only women to medal in both events at a single Games.

Current Florida women's basketball assistant coach Rhyne Howard won bronze as part of the U.S.'s 3x3 basketball team.

Grant Holloway and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone were selected as U.S. Track & Field team captains.

Florida women's program have found success in the conference, national and international stages

Volleyball team

Championship level success continued for Florida women's athletics again in 2023-24. The Gators celebrated the 50th anniversary of Florida women's athletics in the 2021-22 season.

Seven top-5 NCAA finishes and four conference titles were earned by Florida women's teams in 2023-24. Two were named the nation's top athlete in their sport and six claimed conference athlete of the year accolades. All-America honors were claimed by 38 Gators to continue the program's tradition of success.

Aliyah Matharu

Aliyah Matharu led Florida in scoring with 570 points across 30 games. Matharu also closed out the season as the SEC’s second-highest scorer, averaging 19 points a game.

Leilani Correa was named the SEC Sixth Woman of the Year and led the league in scoring, averaging 21.38 points. Correa also surpassed the 2,000 career points milestone in the 2023-24 season.

Florida ended its conference season with a run at the SEC Tournament. The Gators secured a first-round win over Missouri and later upset Vanderbilt to advance to the quarterfinal round.

Laila Reynolds

Freshman Laila Reynolds debuted as a Gator in the 2023-24 season. Reynolds was selected to the SEC All-Freshmen Team and is only the second McDonald’s All-American in program history.

Anya Pilgrim led all freshmen in NCAA Championships all-around competition, earning All-America honor at 39.5375. She was the nation’s only freshman to post a 10.0 for floor exercise in 2024.

Leanne Wong

Leanne Wong became the 15th in NCAA history to complete a ‘Gym Slam’ with her February 23 floor exercise 10.0. She was the only member of the U.S.’s gold-medal World Championships team in October of 2023 to compete as a collegiate in 2024.

Victoria Nguyen

An All-American for all-around and uneven bars in NCAA Championships semifinal competition, Victoria Nguyen earned her third consecutive All-Southeastern Conference honor in 2024.

Ellie Lazzari

Senior Ellie Lazzari returned to all-around this season after tearing her Achilles tendon in 2022. Her collegiate-best of 39.65 won a share of the NCAA Gainesville Regional final title.

Megan Hinnenkamp’s eight goals led the Gators and Southeastern Conference freshmen in 2023. She shared the SEC Freshman of the Year award and earned All-SEC honors.

In her first season with the Gators, centerback Daviana Vaka earned All-Southeast Region and All-Southeastern Conference honors. She led UF with her average of nearly 87 minutes per match.

Alexa Goldberg

Senior goalkeeper Alexa Goldberg started each of UF’s 17 matches, earning her lowest goals-against-average (0.91) of Gator career.

Lena Bailey

Lena Bailey’s goals (4) and points (9) total stood second among the Gators in 2023. The freshman led the Gators with three game-winning goals.

Wanya McCoy won a medal of every color in the final day of SEC Indoor Championship action, including setting the Bahamian national record with his winning 200 meter time of 20.29.

Rios Prude Jr. shouts encouragement as Jenoah McKiver anchors the 4x400-meter relay. That relay’s third-place finish gave Florida the needed six team points to win the program’s third consecutive NCAA Outdoor title.

Robert Gregory’s season-best of 20.08 won NCAA Outdoor silver in the 200 meters.

Malcolm Clemons

Malcolm Clemons won bronze in the NCAA Outdoor long jump. Nineteen days later, he earned a spot on the U.S. Olympic team with his runner-up trials finish.

In NCAA history, 108 different runners have won cross country, 3,000 (in), 5,000 (in & out) and 10,000-meter (out) titles. Only Florida’s Parker Valby’s won all five in a single season.

Grace Stark

Grace Stark’s winning 100-meter hurdle time of 12.47 at the NCAA Championships set UF’s record and is the third-quickest in NCAA history.

Alida van Daalen

Sophomore Alida van Daalen scored in both NCAA Outdoor discus and shot put. She also won the SEC discus title and reset the UF discus record four times.

Claire Bryant

Claire Bryant won silver in both NCAA Indoor and Outdoor long jump competitions. She is the first U.S.-born collegiate long jumper to earn a podium finish in all eight NCAA Championships during her collegiate career.

Carly Briggs was pinned to the SEC All-Tournament Team after going undefeated in the post-season. Briggs was also selected to the All-SEC Second Team boasting a nine-match win streak.

Rachel Gailis was named an All-American after cracking into the nation’s top 10. Gailis also secured a spot on the All-SEC First team, tallying 22 wins and defeating seven ranked-players.

Qavia Lopez

Qavia Lopez became the first student-athlete in program history to receive the SEC Freshman of the Week honor three times. Lopez went 23-11 overall and tallied 24 doubles wins.

Rachel Gailis and Bente Spee

Rachel Gailis and Bente Spee dominated in doubles, holding a nine-match win streak to close out the season. The pair went undefeated in post-season and posted a 10-1 overall record.

Josh Liendo

Josh Liendo became one of six in NCAA Men's Swimming Championships history – first since 1996 - to win three individual titles and swim on at least two championship relays teams.

The Florida men brought home their 12th consecutive SEC Championship, marking the 45th SEC Championship title in program history and the second-most by any SEC team across all sports.

Gators Adam Chaney, Julian Smith, Josh Liendo and Macguire McDuff of the 200 Medley Relay National Championship Team, broke the NCAA, Meet, U.S. Open and Pool Record with 1:20.15.

Conor Gesing

Conor Gesing won Florida’s first SEC Championship 3-Meter title since 1985. The freshman earned Diver of the Meet and was named SEC Male Freshman Diver of the Year.

Bella Sims

Bella Sims won two individual NCAA and three SEC Championship titles. The freshman was named both the SEC Female Swimmer of the Year and SEC Female Freshman of the Year.

This key catch by Kendra Falby in UF’s WCWS opening 1-0 win versus Oklahoma State was just another example of why she joined teammate Jocelyn Erickson among the 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove recipients.

All-American Skylar Wallace finished her outstanding Gator career as the program record holder in batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.

Senior Elli McKissock started in all 29 matches wearing the libero jersey during the 2023 season. She moved to second in program history for career digs with 1,666.

Trinity Adams

Trinity Adams’ 31 aces tied for first among the Gators in 2023. The junior recorded four aces against Sacramento State to tie her career high for the third time.

Kennedy Muff

Kennedy Muff played a crucial role as becoming primary setter in 2023. The graduate transfer totaled 851 assists in 23 matches, while recording at least 40 assists in 11 matches.
